| 2004 saw NASA continue to go "beyond" the frontiers of Earth orbit. Cassini arrived at Saturn, returning dazzling images of the planet, its moons and its rings, and preparing for the Huygens probe's descent into Titan's atmosphere in January 2005. Planetary explorers, deep space telescopes and technology missions will demonstrate the tools needed for further, longer-duration human space missions. Combining that technology with the experience gained on long-term expeditions to the moon will allow humans to one day travel to Mars and beyond. |
